Finca Nuguo, Cafe Gallardo
The Gallardo family began producing traditional varieties at the Gallardo Farm in 1960, and 15 years ago, the current owner, Jose Manuel, introduced Geisha to a section of the farm called Nuguo, and the Nuguo brand was launched.
Nguo, located deep in the mountains at an altitude of 1,850m, is surrounded by rich virgin forest with lots of rain, making it an ideal natural environment for growing coffee, and the area produces coffee using its own unique cultivation methods and processes.
In 2021, Nguo won the Geisha Natural category at Best of Panama, the world's top coffee competition, attracting attention from around the world.
Nguo is located in the mountainous region of Fultongo, Renacimiento region, in western Panama, near the border with Costa Rica. Like other neighboring coffee-producing regions such as Boquete and Volcan, this region is characterized by diverse weather conditions, with the winds from the Atlantic Ocean (Caribbean Sea) in the north and the Pacific Ocean in the south colliding to create a "microclimate." Even farms just a few kilometers apart have different weather conditions. There is a lot of rain, and the raindrops turn into fine mist, constantly generating a natural mist called "bajaleque" locally, which moistens the trees, soil, and diverse organisms and plants, activating the natural cycle and bringing unparalleled blessings to coffee growth.
The cherries harvested deep in the forest are processed by him himself, using a unique fermentation method that takes advantage of differences in altitude and temperature to bring out the maximum flavor from each lot.
